Astraware and Digital Eel Beam Down Strange Adventures in Infinite Space
THE MIDLANDS, ENGLAND – June 7th, 2004 – Astraware today announces the release of their first conversion of a Digital Eel title, the highly anticipated Strange Adventures in Infinite Space for Palm OS® and Pocket PC.
Originally released for PC, the cult classic Strange Adventures in Infinite Space was an Independent Games Festival Finalist and has spawned multiple fan sites. Strange Adventures in Infinite Space (or SAIS) puts the player at the helm of a deep space exploration vessel at the edge of the infamous Purple Void. The game consists of short (between 5-20 minutes) mini adventures of which no two are ever the same. Infinite possibilities arise from randomly generated star maps consisting of 21 different ship types, over 60 different weapons, drives, shields, gadgets and artefacts, 18 alien lifeforms and 17 different planets and star types.
“Strange Adventures really captures the essence of the perfect mobile game – since you can play an entire game in just a quarter of an hour, and everything is easy to control with simple screen taps.” said Howard Tomlinson, CEO of Astraware. “Of course, limiting yourself to just one game may be a challenge…”
In porting Strange Adventures in Infinite Space to Palm OS® and Pocket PC, Astraware have modified its core technology to include their most efficient graphics compression system to date. Allowing a wider array of graphics to be included yet with quicker load times. The scale and rotate feature allows for greater sprite dynamics than ever before and screen rescaling will keep them looking sharp on any alien angle you might discover. All this coupled with the new stereo version of the Aurora Audio Engine, makes Strange Adventures in Infinite Space Astraware’s most feature packed release so far.
“I found the graphics and sound to be wonderful and the game play sufficiently challenging that I plan on keeping it on my PDA for a while to come.” said David Eaton, reviewer for PDArcade, PDA247, and Tapland.
Strange Adventures in Infinite Space is available for Palm OS® and Pocket PC based devices at Astraware?s website, www.astraware.com, priced at $19.95.
